Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is a multi-disciplinary university offering its students and faculty a vibrant learning ecosystem designed around its multi-cultural and innovative ethos. It was established in 1971 by Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar as a ‘home away from home’ for African Asian students on the principles of Vedic thought of "World as One Family". The name Symbiosis was coined with a special meaning – that of allowing various international cultures to culminate at a point and grow together.

Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Pune established in June 1977, is one of leading institutions for legal education in India.In its over 40 years’ journey it had achieved various milestones in teaching, learning and research. It has pioneered the 5-year law program, BBALLB Program and 1 year LLM with 8 specialisations. Today, around 2000 students pursue BA/BBALLB Hon program, LLB program, LLM, PhD and 1 diploma program. SLS, Pune has consistently been ranked amongst the top 10 law colleges in India by various governmental and private ranking agencies.
